This is my first Wordless Wednesday so I’m going to fudge a little and add some words. Pets. Friends. Loss… especially when you are a 12-year old boy whose first loss is a beloved pet. In this case the loved pet was one of our three laying hens, Scarlett. And my last words here are courtesy of my friend who quoted Winnie the Pooh for me. “How lucky am I to have had someone that makes saying goodbye so hard.”

I read a book called “How Buddy, the Rooster, Made me a Family Man” This was such a fun read. It made me laugh and cry. I never would have thought of a rooster for a pet, but this family had Buddy for a pet, and it changed their lives….Mostly the life of a grown man…A journalist. And the author of the book.

Jill, Having had our chickens for 3 years now, I have no doubt of the power of these little creatures to wiggle their way into a person’s heart. Thanks for your comment. I might have to check that out, it sounds like a sweet book.

Wow, I just read another of my food blogging friend who shared the same experience. Sad and sorry for your loss Sally.
Sally says
Thanks so much, Kevin. Pets are such a special part of our families, as I know you agree with your special dog “kids”. Your comments mean a lot, my friend.

Oh Sally, I’m heartbroken for you and your sweet son. When you have time you’ll have to email me and let me know what happened with your precious Scarlett.
Sally says
Thank you, my friend. I’ll email you later tonight or if I don’t get a chance, I’ll get in touch on Sunday. 🙁 We are so, so sad.
